Our long lines are made from 'Hexa'. Hexa is abrasion resistant, 100% water and bacteria resistant, and does not stretch as well super soft in your hands. Its flexible so its easy to wrap up when not in use with bright colours that really pop and do not fade.
What can our long lines used for?
1. Recall training
Is your dog a beginner to recall? Whether you have a puppy or an adult dog, if they are a beginner to recall training then the Hounds and Heli's long line is key to your training success. A long line is the training bridge between having your dog on lead and off lead. For puppies we recommend the 5 meter length. For adolescent and adult dogs we recommend the 7 meter length.
2. Mantrailing
Hounds and Heli's long lines are used by Search and Rescue Dog teams (SARDA Ireland, Cork City Missing Persons Search and Recovery) and members of An Garda Siochána Dog Unit. Our long lines are strong (25mm: Tensile strength 250 kg, 20mm: ensile strength 210 kg), waterproof (don't get smelly and easy to clean) and soft on your hands. We recommend the 7 meter or 10 meter length for Mantrailing
3. Hiking
We love being outdoors with our dogs and there's nothing more enjoyable than taking your happy, energetic and excited dog for a hike. Hounds and Heli's long lines are perfect for those beautiful Sunday dog friendly hikes on the hills. Choose a bright neon colour, making it easy for other walkers to see that you have your dog leashed. As they are 100% water and bacteria resistant, the line is super easy to clean and have ready for your dogs next adventure. We recommend the 5 meter or 7 meter lines in Neon Colours for hiking. Caution, it is your responsibility to ensure the safety of you, your dog and other walkers when using our long lines. Be careful on rocky, steep surfaces in case your dog pulls.
Our long lines come in 2 widths: 20mm and 25mm. For puppies and small dogs we recommend 20mm width. We also have a selection of hardware available.
Hardware
Chrome Plated, Rose Gold, Antique Brass and Matte Black are available as our 'standard' hardware. 'Standard' Hardware is very strong (breaking load of at least 200kg) and is available at no extra cost.
Stainless Steel Snap Hooks/Trigger Snap Hooks, Solid Brass Sand Casting Snap Hooks/Trigger Snap Hooks and Anodised Aluminium Carabiners are available at an extra cost.
The Stainless Steel, Solid Brass Sand Casting and Anodised Aluminium are highly rust and scratch resistant and therefore suitable for in salt water environments. They are also super strong with a breaking load of 400kg+.
Anodised Aluminium Carabiners are significantly lighter than Steel or Brass but as strong.
