Reactive Dog Mantrailing: Intro & Development Day

Build confidence, learn new skills, and trail in a supportive, reactive-friendly environment.

Our combined Reactive Dog Mantrailing Intro & Development Day is designed specifically for dogs who need a calmer, controlled environment to learn, grow, and thrive. This full-day experience brings together the foundations of our popular reactive intro course with the progression and fun challenges of our development days — all in one supportive package.

Whether your dog is nervous, over-excited, easily overwhelmed, or simply needs more space, this programme allows you to learn at your own pace while being supported by others who understand reactive dogs. You’ll work alongside handlers who have already completed the intro themselves, giving you the chance to observe more experienced dogs, learn from their progress, and feel part of a community that truly gets it.

What’s Included

Foundations First — Intro to Mantrailing

You and your dog will start the day by learning the key skills of mantrailing in a structured, calm environment. The focus is on safety, confidence, and giving your dog a clear understanding of the game without overwhelming them.

Progression Through the Day

As you become more comfortable, you’ll move into the development section where you’ll work on exciting and confidence-building trail elements such as:

  • Car pickups

  • Door IDs

  • High finds

  • Longer or more complex trails (adapted to each dog)

This blended format means you get to see what’s possible, progress in a single day, and take home a huge confidence boost.

A Safe Setting for Reactive Dogs

All locations are carefully chosen private venues, reducing triggers, distractions, and environmental pressure. This helps your dog stay under threshold while still being introduced to realistic trailing scenarios.

We prioritise:

  • Low-stress setups

  • Clear structure and routine

  • Plenty of space between dogs

  • Gradual exposure to manageable triggers

  • A relaxed, supportive atmosphere

No judgement. No pressure. Just calm, thoughtful, highly skilled training tailored for dogs who need a little extra care.

Why This Combined Programme Works

Many reactive dogs love mantrailing — but traditional group settings can be overwhelming. By combining the intro and development day, you get:

  • A full day of learning in a controlled environment

  • A chance to see more advanced dogs working

  • Built-in support from handlers who’ve been through the same journey

  • Real progression without rushing

  • A safe path toward joining regular mantrailing groups in the future

This is your dog’s chance to enjoy the sport, build confidence, and succeed in a way that feels good for both of you.

Important Note: Reactive Dogs vs. Aggressive Dogs

Reactive dogs typically seek space. They may bark, lunge, or vocalise, but their aim is usually to increase distance — not to cause harm. This workshop is designed with these dogs in mind.

Aggression, however, is different.
A dog may show intent to make contact or escalate beyond creating distance — and importantly, a dog does not need to have a bite history to be considered aggressive.

If you are unsure where your dog fits, or if you believe your dog may display aggressive behaviour toward people or other dogs, we may still be able to accommodate you, but you must contact us before booking. This allows us to understand your dog’s needs and advise you on the safest and most suitable option.

Because the safety and welfare of all attendees is our top priority:

  • Anyone attending with a dog that is aggressive and has not disclosed this in advance will be asked to leave the workshop.

  • No refunds or transfers will be given in these cases.

We genuinely want to help you and your dog — the more information you share ahead of time, the better we can support you safely and effectively.
